Lean in for your mother today!

Rainbow pose can be done with your mom by standing side-by-side and arching toward one another. Have another person? Add them to the pose by having them go under the rainbow as their favorite animal!

For children who are old enough to stand and make the Rainbow Pose

How to:

  1. Start by both standing up tall.

  2. Reach your hands up, high to the sky.

  3. Slowly, lean to one side to make half a rainbow. Your partner can arch towards you.

  4. Then repeat on the other side.

The above pose is great for children who are old enough to stand on their own and make the Rainbow Pose. If your child is too young for this, you can use the yoga philosophy, Ahimsa, which means: non-harm-kindness.

These are ways to express Ahimsa toward your little one.

  • Be gentle

  • Be patient

  • Say “I love you” to the child

For Mom of a little one, you can have these Ahimsa moments to nurture yourself.

  • Give yourself time to recover (from birth, exhaustion, constantly adjusting to new changes and developments in the child(ren).

  • Allow yourself to be tired, confused, less than perfect as caring for small children is exhausting

  • Say “I love you” to yourself

Count Back to Compliments

Lie down. If it feels right, close your eyes. Count backward from 10 to 1. Each time you count down a number, let your body relax even deeper. If you lose count, start back at ten. Then just rest. (After 2-5 minutes.) Now, slowly start to bring breath into your belly. Deepen your breathing. Notice how you feel after relaxing. In your mind or whispering, give yourself a generous compliment for practicing yoga today. Slowly sit up again.
