This is an online course, part of Flow and Grow 95-Hour Online Children's Yoga Teacher Training RCYT.
Trainees may wish to take this course individually or as part of the entire training package.
Equip yourself with yoga-based SEL tools
This workshops weaves yoga teachings with social-emotional learning practices that help children deal with strong emotions as they arise throughout the day. Learn a breathing technique, a yoga posture, and a mantra for each of four big emotions young children deal with on a daily basis.
Children are more likely to manage themselves when they have the appropriate tools to do so. If a strong emotion is present for a child and he or she has a tool to notice it and manage it, they can be more self-sufficient. Tools for awareness and self-soothing are key here. We will learn to model this behavior in this class.
Participants will learn breathing techniques, yoga postures, and mindfulness exercises designed to help students develop:
- Relationship skills
- Decision-making skills

This course is designed for educators, yoga teachers, parents, therapists, counselors, psychologists, or anyone who works with tweens/teens.
Ages: Professionals working with children ages 1-5

Because teaching children’s yoga is much more than yoga poses, we see this course as a pathway to mature as an educator, parent, instructor, counselor, or whatever role you hold or plan to hold. Go beyond the poses by incorporating mindfulness, self-reflection and self-inquiry, art, meditation, positive self-talk, relaxation, student-lead programming, and more.
